The Relationship Between Education Economy And Growth in Turkey (2000-2018)

Many variables determine economic growth performance. One of those related variables is education expenditures. Education is defined as the process of creating changes in the behavior and thinking structure and skill of the individual. Education, which concerns all members of the community socially, is also among the most important spending areas in terms of public services. In the early 1900s, classical economists such as Adam Smith, Alfred Marshall and John Stuart Mill talked about the importance of public investment in education. Economists highlighted the issues such as the relationship between educational financing, distribution of income and education with the relationship between economic growth and education in the 1950s. The issue has improved since the 1960s in terms of research and publications. Education in many developing countries such as Turkey remained in the background in terms of both its position in budget and its characteristics. Societies need to make remarkable investments and spend a lot in the educational area to remove the related negative table from the point of economic, political, social and cultural development. In this study, it was endeavored to analyze the relationship between education expenditures and growth via graphics for the period of 2000-2018 in Turkey. As a result of studies on the effect of educational growth in Turkey it stands out statistically insignificant. In this context, it is necessary to make investments to improve the quality of education and training in Turkey. For this, unproductive resources devoted to education should be used and should support economic development by increasing education expenditures.
