EVALUATION OF TOURISM EMPLOYEES’ INTENTION TO LEAVE IN TERMS OF DIFFERENCES IN DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS AND THE EFFECT OF PERSON-ORGANIZATON FIT


One of the most common problems in the tourism sector is the employee turnover. In this research, it is aimed to investigate the reasons of employee turnover and the factors that affect the personnel in this problem. For this purpose, a research was conducted to determine whether the effect of person-organization fit on employees' intention to leave and whether the intention to leave showed significant differences according to the demographic characteristics of the employees. Person-organization fit briefly refers to the level of compatibility of employees' characteristics and values with organizational objectives and organizational values. The intention to leave is the process by which employees want to quit their jobs for individual, organizational or environmental reasons and make assessments on new job options. In this research, a survey was conducted including the managers and non-managers working in hotel enterprises and travel agencies operating in Elazığ. Reliability and validity analyzes, T tests, Anova tests and regression analyzes were performed by using SPSS statistical program. Confirmatory factor analyzes and path analyzes were performed by using AMOS program to determine the effect status among the variables. According to the findings; it was determined that employees' intention to leave showed significant differences according to gender, age and job status. In addition, it was found that the level of person-organization fit had a significant negative effect on employees' intention to leave.
