The Effects of Karasek's Job Demand-Control-Support Model (JDCS) on Employees Job Stresses: A Field Survey on Aviation Workers of Manas International Airport, Bishkek

Job Demand-Control model developed by Karasek has been developed by adding the Social Support dimension by Johnson and Hall. The model considers the work tension and suggests that the low control perception of the employees will produce psychological pressure on the employees against the high demands of work. It has been proposed to give employees high control over their work in order to ensure that employees deal with high demands of the job. This can protect employees from stress and induce learning. In this research, the relationship between job demand, control and support sub-dimensions of the model and job stress are examined. As a sample, the employees of Manas International Airport in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, were selected. Factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, a significant positive correlation was found between the job control perception and the stress-based sub-dimension of work stress; A negative correlation was found between the perception of social support and the ”stress-induced stress” sub-dimension of job stress; A positive correlation was found between the perception of social support and insufficient source-based stress ”sub-dimension of work stress.
