The international tourism industry is one of the vital activities for both country's macro and micro economics. Health tourism, which has the highest added value among the different types of tourism industry has been in the primary interest of both public and private sectors. In recent years, together with the process of globalization of Information and Communication Technologies, people became conscious. As a result of various problems in some countries health systems, in order to benefit from more economical and high quality health services the desire of traveling to another country is increasing every day. The reason for the preference of Turkey for health care services; Its geographical structure, proximity to the western and eastern countries, its climate, the private hospitals having high quality international standards, the use of advanced health technologies, and above all, the provision of economic and quality services attract the attention of many foreign nationals. Travel agencies, which have an important position in the international tourism distribution channels, have a prominent place in health tourism as well. In this study, a literature review was made, brief information about health tourism was given and the role and effectiveness of travel agencies were examined according to “Social Sciences Qualitative Research Model.”
